The purpose of the William Doerr chapter of National Honor Society at Denham Springs High School is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of our school.

Membership is based upon outstanding scholarship, character, leadership and service.  Members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate the qualities upon which they were chosen.

Requirements for membership:
*Junior or Senior
*3.5 overall GPA
*Be of good character
​
Club Activities:
*Meetings held four times a school year during activity period.
​
*Service projects each semester.
Here a few of the service projects we've done recently. Collections for some of our favorite organizations like Mighty Moms' Full Tummy Project, Toys for Tots and the DS Animal Shelter.  In response to recent natural disasters, we collected supplies for hurricane Harvey victims,  as well as a book drive for our school library after The Great Flood of 2016. DSHS NHS members also greeted members of Harvest Manor Nursing Home with Christmas wreaths during the holidays recently.

*All seniors in good standing will receive a NHS patch to wear graduation day.
